Álvaro Ríos Salám

He has been doing judo in the same club in Torrelavega since he was three. Raúl Merino, his judo teacher, soon saw his natural ability in this sport. Since then, he has shown at every competition that his sensei was not mistaken. He has achieved several gold medals in European Cup competitions.

Part of the Spanish national team, Álvaro Ríos is a consistent judoka and a fierce competitor on the tatami. Throughout his career, he has managed to steer clear of injuries. This is no coincidence, rather a result of his strict training regime in which other sports such as CrossFit have a strong impact on his fitness.

There’s no doubt that Álvaro is one of the leading exponents of Spanish Judo, which currently boasts a unique generation of teachers and competitors.
