Club Playas de Castellón

Proclaimed as the best club in the history of Spanish athletics by ranking points by the RFEA.

The club was founded on 20 March 1981, under the name ‘Club Atletisme Castelló’, with its name changing in 2006 to Club Atletismo Playas de Castellón. Throughout its history, it is achieved a huge amount of national titles, with getting on for 100 triumphs to date. It has been champion of Spain, both in youth and senior categories. It has represented Spain in the European Club Cup in outdoor track, both in senior male and in junior.

Over the last few years, given its status as top National League Champion, it has represented Spain at the European Club Cup, achieving two runners-up spots. It has also represented our country in the junior European Club Cup, achieving, among other things, two European Championship titles.

The Club de Atletismo Playas de Castellón is qualified by the Royal Spanish athletics Federation as the best club in the history of Spanish athletics by ranking points, awarded in its yearly report through a league table of clubs based on the points obtained in the different national rankings.

With this qualification, Playas has become the club with the most titles, the most Spanish Championship medals, the Spanish club which provides the most finalists in Spanish Championships, and after the classification of 2013, it became the best club in Spanish history, receiving the bronze plate for sporting merit by the Supreme Sports Council.
