The formula contains a carefully measured mix of different length carbohydrate chains and has a high Glycaemic Index, with no added sugars. These chains formed by monosaccharides, disaccharides, trisaccharides and polysaccharides made from maltodextrins and, to a lesser extent, amylopectin, give the formula a very low osmolality so it is quickly released from the stomach and the nutrients within it are immediately available to the body.

The protein comes from hydrolysed whey protein isolates (OPTIPEP^®) created using CFM (cross flow microfiltration), + enzyme hydrolysis. These isolates are rich in amino acids, peptides and polypeptides and are very easily and quickly digested.

It is scientifically proven that consuming proteins helps to maintain and increase muscle mass, as well as keep bones healthy. 

The recommended daily intake of COMPLEX 4:1^® RECOVERY provides 80% of the NRV for vitamins A, D, E, C and group B, as well as being a source of minerals (Mg, Zn, Cu and Mn).  It helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue thanks to its magnesium and vitamin C, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12 content, and also contributes to protecting cells against oxidative stress by providing copper, manganese, zinc, vitamin C, E and B2.

Using COMPLEX 4:1^® RECOVERY makes for a gluten free, low lactose shake with each serving providing 39-42 g carbohydrate and 11-12 g protein (OPTIPEP^®), of which 4.94-5.83 g are essential amino acids, not synthesised by the body, depending on the flavour.
